The buttonholes can be sewn easily in different versions and either with or without using a cord. Any number of buttonholes can be sewn at exactly the same length.
Switch off the machine. Attach the foot as described in the instruction manual.

Important: Always sew a test buttonhole.
Buttonhole foot with slide with button holder:
Pull the button holder backwards and insert the button. Press the button holder together firmly. Attach the foot with slide and move the button-hole lever down as far as possible. Mark the buttonhole position on the fabric. Insert the needle at the start of the buttonhole using the handwheel and lower the presser foot. Sew the buttonhole; the machine secures the threads at the end and stops. On mechanical models, the machine does not stop automatically and the threads have to be tied off manually.
Buttonhole foot with slide for four-step buttonholes:
Mark the position and length of the buttonhole on the fabric. Position the fabric underneath the foot and insert the needle at the start of the buttonhole. Lower the foot, making sure that the slide is in the rearmost position (the two markings must meet). Sew the buttonhole, selecting the next step of the buttonhole at the relevant markings.
Cut the buttonhole open:
Insert a pin at both ends of the buttonhole directly in front of the bar, to avoid cutting the bars. Cut the opening using a seam ripper. Alternatively, the buttonhole can also be cut from each side towards the centre, in which case there is no need to insert the pins.
Cording reinforces the buttonhole and is recommended for thicker materials and for knitted fabrics to prevent distortion of the buttonhole. The thickness of the cord depends on the material to be sewn, e.g. pearl cotton No. 8, strong hand sewing thread or fine crochet yarn. Follow the same procedure as for a normal buttonhole, but before starting, on the raised foot with slide, guide the cord over the pin on the back, pull forwards under the foot and hook it in at the front.
Sew the buttonhole. Then pull the cord tight. Thread the two ends into a hand sewing needle and tie off at the back.
In conjunction with the buttonhole foot with slider, this aid improves fabric feed when sewing buttonholes in thick and fluffy materials and also on edges.
